Our next stop, Venice – the City of love & romance. We’ve never been, so we’re very excited and dying to get there. Ventusky was promising us good weather so we were up early doors and off on the road, lattes in our flasks itching to catch a glimpse of the city.
Note that we have left behind Germany and Austria along with the milschkaffee which is now a latte ….although the same similar thing!! A bit like pizza and flammkuchen and pasta and spätzle 
Uuuummm, that glimpse was not to be. An hour outside of Venice and the bloody country is as flat as a pancake and all we can see are suburbs and the ever-winding road ahead of us.
The first campsite we stopped at (bugger these bloody reviews!!!) Camping Rialto, was dire. Shitty toilets, crappy showers, unkempt campsite, on-site pizzeria closed. It took some persuasion to get the gorgeous, and now very tired one, to move. But after threatening removal of conjugal rights, he recognised the folly of his ways, and we left!!!
Around the corner, Camping Venezia appeared. Only 1 of 2 campsites still open in Venice. We were greeted by Nirvana. Well-kept campsite, a pool and wellness centre, a restaurant, the best, the ultimate in luxuriously hot, clean showers, fabulous toilets ….and all for only €2 more.
Relationship restored!
The drive hadn’t been too long but it was one of those days where the day felt really long day and we were both shattered. So after a bowl of …..guess what……pumpkin soup (that’s the last of it!), some buttered toast and a massively long soak in a steaming hot shower, we were off to bed for an early night.
Because…….ciao Venezia tomorrow!
